January 7, 1925 — October 20, 2008

Lela Rowberry Street, 83, formally of Shelley, Idaho died Monday, October 20, 2008 at her home in Pine Brook Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Lela grew up in Iona, Idaho area with her father, Arthur Leroy Rowberry, mother, Violet Klossner Rowberry and four brothers and three sisters. Her father was a sheepherder, which meant that life was sometimes hard and money was often scarce. What they lacked in worldly possessions, they more than made up in love. Her sisters were her lifelong and truest friends. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School and went right to work for the telephone company.

She married Donald Ferguson in 1943 and had twin girls, Dina, who died soon after being born and Dona.  After the twins were born her and Don divorced and Lela moved in with her mother to raise her daughter Dona. In the fall of 1949 she met and fell in love with Paul A. Street. They were married on December 30, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls temple. To this family were added seven more children, Steven, James, Richard, Mary, Lisa, Caroline and Charles.

Lela was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many ward and stake callings. At the time of her passing, she was a member of the Sage Lakes Ward in the Idaho Falls North Stake. She enjoyed her family, family history and the temple.

She is survived by a sister, Marie (Arnold) Johnson, seven children, 28 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, a daughter, Dina, a son, James, her parents, 4 brothers, 2 sisters and 1 grand daughter.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24, 2008 at 1:00pm in the Shelley 8th Ward Chapel, 184 North Park, Shelley, Idaho under the direction of Bishop Arden Anderson. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak and Friday morning 11:30am to 12:30pm at the church.
