Leland A. Eaton

Leland A. Eaton, 94, of Shelley, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center in Idaho Falls. 

He was born April 9, 1915, in Vernal, Utah, to Zera and Alice Starkey Eaton.  He was the fourth child born to a family of thirteen.  That same year the family moved to Shelley where he resided the rest of his life. 

On June 2, 1937, He married his sweetheart, Zelma Mitchell and they were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple.   He and Zelma farmed for over 50 yrs.   He enjoyed every minute on the farm and was truly in his God given element.  He always said he would never change any part of his life.  He enjoyed the journey to the fullest extent.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, snowmobiling and spending time outdoors and most of all, time spent with his family.  He was a great story-teller and everyone loved listening to his stories.  He was an amazing example to not only his family but everyone that he met.  He was a man of integrity, service and generosity and was always concerned about others.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a High Priest.

He is survived by his children, Jimmy (Lori) Eaton and Cindy (Dean) Bunnell, ten grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren, siblings Joe (Sharlene) Eaton and Mabel Cannon of Shelley and Jack (Rayceal) Eaton of Boise. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Zelma and 9 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Monday, August 17, 2009 at the Shelley Stake Center (325 East Locust) in Shelley with Bishop Robert Butler, conducting. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak Street) in Shelley and Monday morning 10:30 till 11:40 at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
