Lucille Bateman

Lucille Bateman, 89, of Shelley died May 14, 2006 at The Willows in Blackfoot.

She was born February 18, 1917 at Hyrum, Utah to William and Sophie Christiansen. As a child her family moved to the Thomas area were she grew up and attended school, graduating from Moreland High School.

On May 22, 1934 she married LeRoy Bateman in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. They made their home and farmed south of Shelley. She was a devoted mother and raised three of her own children along with two other girls, Billie Beal and Jo Calkin.

She later went to nursing school and worked at the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls for 15 years.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and quilting with which she shared with family and friends and was a magnificent cook.

She is survived by her three children, Bonnie (Joe Dell) Heileson of Idaho Falls, Jeannie (Eric) Christensen of Shelley, and Don (Kathy) Bateman of Shelley, 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 17, 2006 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
