Lula Hammer Willis, 83, of Firth passed away January 16, 2006 at her home under hospice care.
She was born June 20, 1922 in Woodville, Idaho to George Riley Hammer and Elenor Taysom. She was a graduate of Shelley High School. She married Joseph Thomas Willis, Sr. April 28, 1945 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He passed away in July of 1988. She worked at the Post Register as a Type Setter previous to her marriage. She was a record Keeper for the Boy Scouts for many years and held a variety of jobs to help support her family.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she worked as a nursery leader and primary teacher for many years. She was an avid Genealogist and loved history and kept scrap books going back to her childhood.
She is survived by Eva Tallow, daughter of Broomfield, CO; Veda (Kent) Young, daughter of Ammon; Marilyn Willis, daughter-in-law of Salem, OR; Rosana (Van) Baron daughter of Rigby; Fraun (Michael) Petersen, daughter of Firth; Bryant (Loreen) Willis, son of Teton City; Ellen Simon, sister of Idaho Falls and Cleon G. Hammer brother of Idaho Falls. 23 grandchildren 19 great grandchildren and many extended grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Joseph Thomas, Jr.3 brothers Howard Hammer, Charles Hammer, Wayne Hammer and 4 sisters Violet Speas, Dora Hammer, Bernice Baker and Erma Stiens.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M Friday January 20th at the Firth Ward Chapel (744 North 600 East) with 1st Councilor Chris Bingham, conducting. The family will receive friends Thursday evening 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home and Friday morning 10:00 till 10:45 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in Woodville Cemetery.
