Margaret Kathryn Chapman

Katheryn Margaret Bowman Chapman 80, of Firth Idaho, returned to her Father in Heaven June 1, 2018 surrounded by her family at Fairwinds Retirement Community, where she lived the past 3 months.

Margaret was born October 12, 1937 in St. Anthony, Idaho at the St. Anthony Hospital to Dewey L. Bowman and Katherine Neiderhaus Bowman.

She grew up and attended schools in Sugar City and Goshen, Idaho, graduating from Firth High School in 1955.

She was a freshman in high school when she met Wilford Oleen Chapman, a senior at Firth High School, who she later married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 24, 1958. The 24th of this month marks their 60th anniversary.

They began their life together immediately, living in West Yellowstone, Montana where she was employed by Jack and Jean’s bakery. They returned to Firth the next summer where they owned and operated “Olees” hamburger stand, a local favorite. In 1964 they moved to their first new home in Rigby, Idaho, and 3 years later back to Firth to eventually become the owners of Idaho Supreme Potato, Inc.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.

She enjoyed growing a large garden, crafting, singing, bowling and church sports. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Margaret is survived by her husband, children, Pamela (Frank) Vouk of Firth, VonDel (Becky) Chapman of Firth, Jana (Don) Reed of Rockford, Wade Chapman of Idaho Falls, Dewey (Jodie) Chapman of Firth, Brad (Stacey) Chapman of Idaho Falls, Charles Chapman of Firth, 22 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Sister, Connie (Doug) Gallup of Pocatello, sister-in-laws, Loraine Chapman and Shirley Johnson of Firth.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, brothers, Harvey, Terry and Randy Bowman, sisters, Arleen Prescott, Janis Davis, and infant siblings, Ramona and Kay Bowman.

The family appreciates the care provided by the staffs of Fairwinds, Encompass and Helping Hands.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Firth Ward Chapel (744 N 600 N). The family will meet with friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Thursday 9:30 till 10:40 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Firth Cemetery.
