Margene Y. Christensen

January 25, 1927 — April 14, 2006

Margene Young Christensen returned to God April 14, 2006 due to an embolic stroke at the age of 79. Margene, or Marge to her friends was born January 25, 1927 in Malad, Idaho as the fifth of six children to Verle Wooden and Edith Tippetts Young. Her siblings in order of birth are Darrell, Verline, Waid, Winifred (Freddie), and the youngest Paul. Shortly thereafter, the family moved and spent approximately seven years residing in Salt Lake City, Utah. She then moved with her family to Shelley, Idaho when her father was transferred in 1939 to the Shelley train depot for the Union Pacific Railroad. Most of her schooling was obtained in Shelley culminating in graduation from Shelley High School in 1945. Margene was a cheerleader in high school.

She married Glen Holger Christensen May 27, 1944. She spent a short time in Longbeach, California accompanying her husband who was stationed there with the U. S. Navy. After the end of the Second World War and their return to Shelley, Margene gave birth to the first of two sons, Craig in 1948, followed by Dana in 1952. The family resided primarily at the family farm northeast of Shelley growing potatoes, grain, and alfalfa before retiring in 1988 and moving into town. She spent most of her adult life at the farm as farm wife, mother, grandmother, and nurturer. She loved gardening, growing flowers, family life, friends, walking, reading, and helping other people.

Marge is preceded in death by her mother Edith, father Verle, husband Glen, sister Freddie, and brother Darrell. She is survived by her two sons Craig and Dana, brothers Waid and Paul, sister Verline, six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Craig and wife Terry Ann reside in Richland, Washington. Dana and wife Linda reside in Pocatello, Idaho. The grandchildren are Terra (San Francisco, Ca.), Ryan (Pocatello, Id.), Brady (Clinton, Ut.), and Sean (Boise, Id.) Christensen as well as Roxanne Law (Kuna, Id.), and Mindy Anderson (Pendleton, Or.). She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 17 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley, Idaho. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:30 till 12:45 p.m. Interment will be at the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
