Marguerite Young King

November 17, 1915 — May 23, 2011

Marguerite Young King, 95, of Firth died peacefully in her home on May 23, 2011.

Marguerite was born November 17, 1915 in Coyote (now called Antimony) Utah to William Riley and Clara Belle Savage Young.  She attended high school in Circleville, Utah.

She married Merrill L. King on May 8, 1933.  When they had saved enough money to travel to Salt Lake City, they were sealed in the temple on February 6, 1934.

She was a very devoted wife and mother, and loved nothing more than working alongside her sweetheart as they bought, improved, and farmed many places in Utah and Idaho, including the Wolverine Ranch, the Reno Ranch, and a ranch in Bone.  They owned and operated motels in Idaho, Utah and West Yellowstone.  They were also involved in other business ventures including operating a store, building roads, operating a blacksmith shop, and running a landscaping business.  In all these ventures she was an impeccable bookkeeper and financial advisor.

The couple raised six children, and have 36 grandchildren and 96 great grandchildren.  Merrill passed away shortly before their 68

th

wedding anniversary.  Merrill and Marguerite have left a legacy of love and devotion as a couple united in all things.  Their family is happy to know they are together again after ten years of separation.  We are grateful to their granddaughter, Ashley Crofts Lovelace for her untiring service as she lived with and cared for grandma this past year of her decline.

Marguerite is survived by her sister, Burdean Fulmer of Circleville, Utah; five of her children, Colleen McGrath of San Diego, California; Time (Barbara) King of St. George, Utah; Tonya (Delane) Crofts of Firth; Randy (Claudia) King of Idaho Falls; Kevin King of Firth; and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Ruth Young, Shirley Halladay, Phyllis Nay, and Charmayne Fillmore, her husband, a son, Malcolm Leon King of Richfield, Utah, and a great grandson, Cammon Jade King of Richfield, Utah.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday May 31, 2011 at the Firth Ward Chapel (744 North 600 East).  The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street in Shelley, and Tuesday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 at the church. Burial will be in the Firth Cemetery.
