Marilyn Kay Beck

August 12, 1942 — October 19, 2011

Marilyn Kay Johnson Beck passed away peacefully on October 19, 2011 due to a stroke.

Marilyn was born in Idaho Falls on August 12, 1942 to Blaylock and Reba Mabel Tew Johnson. She attended Blackfoot High School and BYU.

On June 7, 1962 she married Darrell Grant Beck in the Idaho Falls Temple. They lived in Utah for a short period of time, but were lifelong residents of Idaho Falls.

Marilyn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities.

In high school she was a member of the National Thespian Society and received the State Homemaker Degree from the Idaho Association of FHA. Marilyn was a wonderful homemaker and a fabulous seamstress.

She kept the books for Beck’s Rooter Service and worked for Discovery Toys and Melaleuca.

Marilyn’s greatest joy came from her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel with her husband and family. Their trips took them to all over the USA and to Europe, Hawaii, Central America, Alaska, Mexico and the Caribbean.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell; her children, Brad (Anne) Beck of Salt Lake City, Utah; Sheri (Mike) Brinkerhoff, Kevin (Amy) Beck, and Kimberly (Brian) Martin all of Idaho Falls; and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are her nine siblings, Steven Johnson of Honeyville, Utah; Brent Johnson of Ogden, Utah; Sheryl Roper of Logan, Utah; Lynette Dickey of Millville, Utah; Nolan Johnson of Redondo Beach, California; Bryce Johnson of Boise; Rosemary Christiansen of Newton, Utah; Bryan Johnson of Orem, Utah; and Ranae Wyatt of Emporia, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.

The family wishes to thank the Idaho Falls 19th Ward, Hands of Hope Hospice, and Pine Brook Assisted Living Center for the special care given to Marilyn.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 24, in the 19th Ward LDS church, 3370 North 5th West, with Bishop Gregg L. Baczuk officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday October 23, at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, in Shelley and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church prior to services.  Interment will be in Fielding Memorial Cemetery.
