Naomi Christensen

September 29, 1920 — February 25, 2007

Naomi Lawrence Christensen, 86, died Sunday, February 25, 2007, at her home in Shelley.

She was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Shelley, to Stanley Allen Lawrence and Kathryn Elliott Lawrence.  She grew up in Shelley and graduated from Shelley High School where she participated in two school plays--her favorite high school activity.

On July 30, 1939, she married Thomas F. Christensen in Shelley.  Early in 1940 they made their home south of Shelley where they farmed, ran a business, and raised eight children. Naomi was a concerned and loving wife and mother who counted her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as the highlights of her life.  She also helped her husband by keeping books for the business and running errands for farm parts.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and especially enjoyed serving in a Relief Society Presidency.  Some of her interests included sewing, reading, and her flower garden. In her later years, she truly appreciated frequent visits from her family.

Survivors include her children:  Kathy (Jim) Ohman, Barry (Elaine) Christensen, Renn (Carol) Christensen, and Gail (David) Snedigar, all of Shelley, Ed Christensen of Moscow, Janice (Denny) Curtis of Burley, Tom (Bonnie) Christensen of Salt Lake City, Noreen (Ralph) Kunkel of Spokane, Washington; sister Francis Davis of St. George, Utah;  31 grandchildren and, as of last count, 53 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, brothers Edwin Andrew Lawrence and John (Nancy) Allen Lawrence, and sister Mildred (Reed) Christensen, and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, at the Firth Stake Center in (823 North 600 East) Basalt, Idaho, with Bishop Bill Brown officiating. Family members will visit with friends Friday from 7-8:30 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and at the church from 9:30-10:40 Saturday morning before the funeral. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Shelley.
