September 9, 1934 — March 16, 2012

Nettie JoAnn Bird, 77, of Shelley passed away March 16, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

She was born September 9, 1934 in Shelley, Idaho to George Alton and Mabel Louise Anderson Williams. She grew up in Idaho Falls and later graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1953.

JoAnn married Gwen Cavill “Chub” Bird, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on February 20, 1953. She was a faithful member of LDS Church.

JoAnn was the family historian. She researched and printed an extensive family history complete with chronologically ordered pictures and stories. She also completed many generations of genealogy work for all sides of the family. JoAnn was well known for her talents as a seamstress, tailor, and gifted artist. She was a true sports fan, but an even greater fan of all her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed making quilts, and we enjoy the warmth and love they give us.

Survivors include her children, Bruce Bird of Pocatello, Idaho, Wendy (Evan) Pickett of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Brian (Corolee) Bird of Shelley, Idaho, Todd (Becky) Bird of South Jordan, Utah, Tim (Debbie) Bird of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jeff (Trena) Bird of Tooele, Utah, 23 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, siblings, Carl Williams of Olympia, Washington, Fred Rowe of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Brent Rowe of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Alton Williams, Donna Anderson, Maureen Mains, Ralph Williams, and Jerry Williams.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday March 23rd at the Shelley Stake Center (325 East Locust). The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Friday morning 9:30 till 10:40 A.M at the church.
