Raymond Gene Lindsey

October 7, 1948 — December 4, 2010

Raymond G. Lindsey passed away on Saturday Dec. 4, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Ray was born on Oct. 7, 1948 in Thermopolis, WY to Raymond Floyd Lindsey and Pearl Petersen Lindsey.  He was the youngest of 4 children, and was raised most of his childhood years in Lyman, WY.  He was a member of the swim team and graduated from Lyman High School in 1966.

Ray served his country as a Communication Center Specialist in the U.S. Army.  He was a soldier in the Vietnam War from 1968-1971.  His freedom was very important to him and he has always been very patriotic.

He attended Casper College in Casper, WY, Utah Technical College in Salt Lake City, UT, and went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Utah State University in Logan, UT in 1978.  “Once an Aggie- always an Aggie”

In 1971, Ray met Rilda Phillips from Rupert, ID in Denver, CO. They were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 17, 1972. They lived in Salt Lake City, UT, Richmond, UT, Idaho Falls, ID and settled in Shelley, ID.  Together they raised 6 children.

He worked for the City of Idaho Falls, Anderson Manufacturing, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in April, 2010.  During his 30 years of employment with the Idaho Falls Post Office, he especially enjoyed his job as a clerk and cherished the relationships with the people he met.

Ray was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving various positions in the church.  His true passion was the scouting program.  He cherished his experiences and touched many lives through scouting.

He enjoyed watching football, especially the Wyoming Cowboys and Denver Broncos. He loved sports, camping, traveling, gardening, researching family history and spending time with his children and grandchildren.  His warm smile and contagious laugh will forever be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Rilda Lindsey of Shelley, ID, four daughters: Brenda Resch (Mark) of Antigo, WI, Stacey Austin (Ryan) of Midvale, UT, Arianne Lindsey of Idaho Falls, ID, Alisha Lindsey of Shelley, ID, and two sons: Kevin Lindsey of Killeen, TX, and Trent Lindsey of Logan, UT.  He is also survived by six grandchildren: Robby Resch, Tanner Resch, Madison Lindsey, Gaven Austin, Cameron Johnson, and Fenix Lewis, his mother, Pearl Lindsey of Casper, WY, and two sisters: Dona Wall (Floyd) of Bedford, TX and Mary Jo Burden (Jim) of Riverton, WY.

He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond F. Lindsey, and sister, Rayma Lindsey.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Shelley South Stake Center (675 South Milton). The family will receive friends Friday evening 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Saturday morning 9:30 till 10:40 at the church.  Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery with military rites by David B. Bleak Post 93 and the Idaho Honor Guard.  Memorial contributions can be made to Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, Shelley, Idaho  83274.
