Robert C Prescott

Robert C Prescott, 79, passed away October 28, 2006 at his home in Goshen under hospice care.

He was born June 4, 1927 in Montpelier, Idaho to Clifford Heber Prescott and Hannah Margaret Hansen.  He spent his early years and began his schooling in Sharon, Idaho before moving to Pocatello when he was 7 years old. He continued his schooling in Pocatello, before dropping out of high school at age 17 to join the U.S. Navy during the waning years of World War II.  He served 14 months on active duty before being discharged in Jacksonville, Florida in 1946.  He returned to Idaho and finished his schooling, graduating from Pocatello High School in 1947.  After high school he enrolled at Idaho State College to pursue a pharmacy degree but later transferred to the Idaho State Technical College where he learned carpentry.

Robert began his career in the maintenance department of Idaho State College.  He also worked a number of years as a carpenter in the Pocatello area.  He later worked at the Idaho Nuclear Engineering Laboratory at Test Area North (TAN) as a carpenter/millwright.  In 1991 he spent a year on special assignment, working at March Air Force Base in Riverside, California and he, then returned to Tan until his retirement in 1993.

Robert married Arleene Bowman on February 14, 1953 in Pocatello, Idaho.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in November 1971.  They had three children, Michael, Steven, and Kristeen.  They lived in Pocatello until 1965 when they purchased the Bowman farm and moved to Goshen.

Robert was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He served in a variety of positions throughout his life, including the Young Men’s program, Ward and Stake Sunday School President and High Priest Group Leader.  He also served a mission in the Idaho Pocatello Mission, serving at the Idaho Falls Temple Visitor Center from May 1996 to May 1997.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Arleene of Goshen, his sons, Michael (Marquita) of Edmond, Oklahoma and Steven (Rebecca) of Firth, sisters, Fern Rust and Vilda Howell both of Pocatello and Joyce Tolman of Phoenix, Arizona, one brother, Ray of Afton, Wyoming, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren:  Holly Lambson (Jeremy) of Chubbuck, and their children, Kylee and Ian; Matthew, Hannah, and Mark Prescott all of Firth, Tanner, Tyler, Thomas, and Tara Prescott all of Edmond, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kristeen and two brothers, Albert and Ellis.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Saturday November 4th at the Goshen Ward Chapel (792 North 1090 East) with Bishop Bill Brown conducting. The family will receive friends Friday evening 7:00 till 8:30 P.M at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Saturday morning 9:30 till 10:40 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Goshen Cemetery where military rites will performed by the American Legion Stewart Hoover Post #23.
