Robert James “Dudley” Pfeifer, 85, of Firth passed away at his home March 15, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was under the care of Blackfoot Home Health and Hospice.

Bob was born September 10

1926 in Victoria, Kansas to Frank and Mary Pfeifer. He was second in a family of eight children. He grew up in Kansas then went to Boys Town before joining the US Navy. He served from 1944 to 1947 as a gunner and a first class boatswain’s mate on the USS Munda during WWII. While on leave with Bob Dial to Idaho he met the love of his life Nona Dial. They were married May 10

1946 in San Francisco CA. They were married 58 years when Nona passed away in 2004.

They made their home in Idaho, where he worked in farming and as a co-owner of Pfeifer and Dial Trucking.

Bob and Nona raised six children Carol Evans of WA; Colleen (Paul) Wray of Blackfoot; Connie (Elbert) Linnear of AK; Robert (Debbie) Pfeifer of Idaho Falls; Roy (Shauna) Pfeifer of Firth and Ruth Ann Staples of Firth.

He loved hunting and fishing with family and friends. He took great pride in his yard and beautiful garden which he shared with everyone. His door was always open and became a gathering spot for family and friends.

He is survived by his children, seven grandchildren and twelve Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three siblings and two Granddaughters.

The family will meet with friends Monday March 19

th

from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley.
