Van Ray Campbell

Van Ray Campbell, 61, of Shelley passed away August 1, 2010 in Victor, Idaho.

He was born February 27, 1949 at the Eaton Maternity Home in Shelley, Idaho to David O’dell and Leah Campbell. He attended schools in Shelley all his life and graduated from Shelley High School.  He was active in sports and music, and was selected as Seminary President his senior year.  After high school, he attended Rick’s College.  He was self employed for most of his adult life.  For many years, he operated a shelter home on South Milton in Shelley.

He was involved with many church, school, and community activities and enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors. Reading about leaders and history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and serving within the church was his second favorite activity.  His first love was the fun times and activities he had with his family, children, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Maria Campbell and mother of his children Beth Hoggan and children: Tia and Darren Smith, Christy and Benjamin Tomlinson, Brady and Brooke Campbell, Cody and Jayla Campbell, Leora and Scott Sandford, Leah and Christapher Jarrell, Van Junior Campbell, and his step children Julian and Natlie Mililano, and Jonathan and LeAnnia Milano. He was blessed with 27 very special grandchildren.  His home was open to many including: Antanio, David and Daniel Gonzalez, whom he considered his children.

of 12 children and is survived by Gene Peterson, Bonnita Romrell, Rose Hansen, Lester Campbell, Bruce Campbell and Robert Campbell.

He was preceded in death by grandchildren Morgan and Logan Smith, parents David O’dell and Leah, brothers and sisters Wendell, David, Perry, and twins Dorothy and Doris Campbell.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday August 6, 2010 at the Shelley South Stake Center (675 South Milton Ave,) with Bishop Jeffery Cox conducting.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Friday morning 9:30 till 10:40 at the church.  Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Van Campbell Memorial Fund at any US Bank or funds can be sent to trustee, Rob Campbell, 980 Rim Rock Canyon, Shelley, Idaho 83274.
