Afton Emily Reintjes

Afton Emily Reintjes, 87, of Shelley passed away October 11, 2014 at the Gables in Shelley.

She was born July 3, 1927 in Los Angeles, California to Emil William and Lisa Kristina Carlson Johnson.

Afton married Paul Edward Reintjes in Mesa, Arizona on January 20, 1950.

They had three children, Gregory Wyatt, Paula Suzanne and Marc Whitney.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints.

Afton was a lifelong fan of genealogy.

She traveled all over the United States in search of family names and names of others in order to connect families together.

She traveled to Germany in order to search out Reintjes family genealogy as well as to Sweden to trace her Johnson Swedish lines.

She always kept her wonderful Swedish heritage alive for her family, celebrating traditional Swedish customs whenever and wherever she could.

Besides family the church and genealogy, Afton loved the beach and Mexican food.

Whenever her son Marc visited her, the second thing out of her mouth after, “I love you,” was “Let’s go get some Mexican food.”

She indeed had a zest for life.

She is survived by her son, Marc and a sister, Allene West.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Gregory and daughter, Paula.

According to Afton’s wishes no services will be held.
