Alice Ann Mayer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by loved ones. Born on May 20, 1942, in Payson, Utah, Alice was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to love, resilience, and devotion.
From a young age, Alice displayed a passion for learning and teaching others. She pursued her education with determination, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Brigham Young University. During her career as a teacher, she inspired countless young minds with her wisdom and kindness. Later in life, Alice brought her creativity to JoAnn Fabrics before retiring to spend more time with her family and exploring the world with her love.
In 1963, Alice married her soulmate, Boyd Mayer, after a serendipitous childhood encounter that began with a playful hit on the head with a science book. This beginning blossomed into a deep and enduring partnership that lasted over six decades. Together, Alice and Boyd built a rich and fulfilling life, raising their children—Becky, Julee, and Michael—with love and dedication. Their shared adventures took them around the world, but they always found joy in the simple pleasures of reading, gardening, and their mutual love of Mountain Dew.
Alice’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served her community with grace and generosity. Her compassion and willingness to help anyone in need were well-known, and her fierce love for her family and friends was unwavering.
Her love of flowers and gardening was rivaled only by her devotion to her family. Alice delighted in the company of her grandchildren—Denise, Misty, Megan and Erik, Todd and Mia, Christopher, Samuel, and Katelynn—and great-grandchildren—Brylee, Landen, and Leo—whom she adored and spoiled with affection and sweets.
Alice was predeceased by her parents, Neldon and Nina, her sister Sherry, and her brothers Bob and Paul. She is survived by her devoted husband, Boyd; her loving children, Becky, Julee, Michael, and Jennifer; her brother Joe and sister-in-law Darlene; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends who will forever cherish their memories of her.
In her passing, Alice leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, compassion, and perhaps some stubbornness. She will be sorely missed, but her memory will live on in those who loved her.
