Barbara Elaine Craythorn was born on March 2, 1952, in Logan Utah. She was the second child and the only daughter of Robert Henry Straley and Vera Elizabeth Gallion. Barbara had three loving brothers, Robert, Earl and Ron. Her younger years were spent living in many states including California, Colorado, Missouri, and Utah. During her teen years the family settled in Oakley, Idaho where she graduated from Oakley high school in 1970.

After graduation she met the love of her life, Earl Craythorn, at a rodeo in Burley, Idaho. They were married on December 30, 1970, in Elko, Nevada and started life together in Oakley where their first daughter Candy was born. Their family became eternal on November 17, 1972, when they were sealed in the Logan Utah LDS temple. The next several years brought three more children, Joseph, Mary, and Aaron. Barbara was a very loving and devoted mother. She loved attending activities her children were involved in and supporting them.

She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints and served in many church callings over the years. Her favorite included den mother, primary music leader, and young women’s president. Barbara had a special gift for taking care of those in need and making the people around her feel loved. The greatest joy of her life was being a grandmother. She was so very proud of her nineteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

On August 17, 2023, after a hard fight with liver cancer and liver failure, Barbara passed away peacefully with her loving daughters by her side. She was proceeded in death by a great grandson, Liam Wheeler, a son-in-law Sheldon Longhurst, and her parents Robert and Vera Straley.
