Benjamin Allen Tomchak (Ben), age 55, passed away from natural causes in his Wapello, Idaho home on Saturday, January 6, 2024.
Ben was born December 6, 1968, in Idaho Falls at the Sacred Heart Hospital to Lois Naef Tomchak and David Anton Tomchak. He was the sixth of nine children.
He attended school in Leadore, Idaho and then moved to Salmon where he participated in sports and graduated from Salmon High School in 1987.
In high school Ben enjoyed sports and was an excellent athlete in any sport he chose to participate in. He especially loved football and track and field. Following high school, he joined the Airforce in 1987.
He had a daughter, Shylee Brooke,with Debbie Newsom. He married Denise Ralston of Idaho Falls in the summer of 1993. He had one step son, Tyson Farnes. Together they had one son, Jacob Ryan “Jake” in 1995. They later divorced.
Ben moved to Elko, NV, where he worked for Canyon Construction. He later settled in the Shelley/Wapello area. He enjoyed hunting in his earlier years and in more recent years was always found with his dogs, which he so enjoyed. Ben was a hard worker and always had a close relationship with his mother Lois and his step mother, Fedila.
Ben is survived by his son, Jake Tomchak of Bonney Lake Washington, and daughter, Shylee Brook Jensen of Georgia, his father, David (Marina) Tomchak of Grant, his siblings: Mike (Amanda) Tomchak of Roberts, Angie (Larry) Klingler of Idaho Falls, Jon (Charlene) Tomchak of Shelley, Chris (Karen) Tomchak of Shelley, Dave (Laura) Tomchak of Leadore, Pete (Tanda) Tomchak of Boise, Julie Tomchak of Manchester, New Hampshire, Janill (Jeremy) Kohler of Shelley and step sister, Theresa Thomas (Andrew) of Beverton, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lois Tomchak and his step mother, Fidela Tomchak.
There will be Celebration of Life held at a later date.
