Blake James Johnson

Blake James Johnson, 79, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 11, 2025. A cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

Blake was born in Shelley, Idaho on April 25, 1946, to Willis and Jean Derricott Johnson. He graduated from Shelley High School in 1964 where he met the love of his life Linda Snarr. The two married on June 11, 1966, where they continued to live on the same street, in the same house for 59 years. There they welcomed their first-born child in April of 1968 and later added five more children who he cherished.

Blake spent much of his life on the open road as a truck driver. He loved the freedom of the highway and took great pride in his work. He loved classic cars and would always enjoy attending car shows. He put a lot of time in his racehorses and would often be found traveling to different racetracks on the weekends. Over everything else Blake was found with his family who meant the world to him.

Blake was the proud father of six children, all of whom carry his humor, kindness, and strong will forward in their own lives. Known for his witty personality, his strong handshake, bear hugs and he could make just about anyone smile-especially his grandchildren, who adored him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; children, Troy (Tracy) Johnson, Colleen (Josh) Waite, Missy (Justin) Sanders, and Shantell (Trevor) Goodenough; and 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Blake is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Jean; sibling, Jay; sons, Conley and Chad and grandson, Ethan.

Funeral services will be held Friday May16th at 11:00 a.m. at the Shelley First Ward Building, 184 N Park Ave. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak Street and Friday morning from 9:30 till 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
