Bobbie Louise Thornock

Bobbie Louise Myers Thornock passed away in Missoula, Montana on May 27, 2025.

She was born March 19, 1929 in High Point, North Carolina to Richmond Paul and Dovie Moody Myers. Bobbie had 2 sisters, Pauline and Carrie. Bobbie never met Carrie as she died before Bobbie was born. Bobbie had a wonderful childhood filled with love and playful adventures. Bobbie loved roller skating and climbing trees with jars of peanut butter to enjoy as a treat from a limb. She learned to master ‘skinning a cat’ as she swung round and round the limbs. She loved being active and being outside. She had many kind memories of her hard working and loving parents.

Bobbie’s family joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when she was ten years old. She was baptized July 16, 1939. Being a faithful disciple of our Savior, Jesus Christ, was very important to Bobbie. This was the driving force behind all the major decisions in her life. Bobbie served a mission from 1953-1955 in the California Mission. She loved teaching others about the love of Jesus Christ. She met her sweet husband while they were each serving on their missions.

Bobbie and LaVar were sealed September 8, 1955 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. They had a life of love and service toward each other and many in the communities which they lived. Bobbie and LaVar were true sweethearts. They supported and sustained each other in many church callings and responsibilities whether in Utah, Idaho, or Hawaii.

Bobbie loved music. She had a beautiful voice and loved using her musical talent to lead many choirs. She always had a song to sing, offering fun entertainment wherever she went. Her talents were also found in the poems she enjoyed writing, especially for her family members.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, husband; Alton LaVar, daughter; Bobbie Lanette, grandson; Jeffrey Thornock, and granddaughter; Jennifer Mackintosh.

She is survived by her sons; Richmond LaVar (Diane), Terry Lynn (MaLinda) and Curtis Laran (Annette). She has 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren with 2 on the way, and 1 great-great grandchild on the way.

Bobbie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Aloha ‘oe until we meet again.
