Byron Burtenshaw

Byron Darrell Burtenshaw, 61, of Shelley peacefully passed away April 24, 2024 at his home from natural causes.

Byron was Born May 6, 1962 to Rita Jean Cox and Darrell Leroy Burtenshaw. He grew up in Idaho Falls Idaho. Attended Bonneville High school.

Dad taught me more than I had realized about life. He was my best friend. He was always there for me when I needed him. Even though I didn't grow up with him, the last 20 years of our lives were spent getting to know each other and being there for each other. He was a stubborn old man whom I loved dearly. We helped each other grow, and helped each other with our addictions.

He really loved fishing and taking me and my boys with him. He loved his Bella kitty so much. He loved horn hunting and always talked about going up again when he was feeling better... and reminded me not to wear flip flops again because there are spiders everywhere in the grass lol. 

I love you so much dad. And even though I miss you with every fiber of my being, I'm grateful that you aren't in pain anymore. And I know you're still always there. We'll see you again someday.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Brian and his sister Barbara. He leaves behind two daughters Jessica Jolley, grandchildren Sean and Jack Starnes. Cherish Surey and his grandchildren, along with his brothers Bruce Burtenshaw, Brent Burtenshaw and Bryce Burtenshaw and his sisters Brenda Harker, Bonita Hilton and Beverly Burtenshaw.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening April 30, 2024 from 6:00 till 7:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak Street) in Shelley. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
