Charles Ray Landon, passed away at EIRMC surrounded by his family on June 26, 2025.
He was born on November 11, 1938 to Orson Van Buren and Louie Verl Ward Landon. He was the 5th child of 8 and they lived in a small home in Osgood where they embarked in endless shenanigans.
In 1956, he married Verlene Mae Turner, the "best thing that ever happened to him" and later they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were married for 64 wonderful years.
He was blessed to have five children, who he said were his biggest accomplishments.
He had a deep love for his kids and grandkids and was so happy he got to spend time with them this past week.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served a mission and in other callings that were a joy in his life.
He felt a special sense of accomplishment in his work as a welder at Idaho Steel Products for many years, where he retired.
He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and fixing up anything with diamond plate or duct tape.
He is survived by his five kids: Dan Baker (Carol) of Bancroft, Idaho, Ivan Landon (Debi) of Shelley, Tammy Adams (Steve) of Shelley, Pamela Pettingill (Kevin) of Idaho Falls, and Kimberly Sharp (Dan) of Ammon. Also, his brothers, Dan and Van.
He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Angie (Angeleek-the-Greek), Scott (Scotty), Lindsey (Lou-eyes-of-blue), Bryan (Bry-guy), Shelly (Shell-Bell), Kristen (Frisky), Jeff (Yeff), Sandy (Lou-Who), Steven (Stevie-J), Bradley (Braddy Cakes), David (Baby Dave), Nick (Nickerson), Bubba (Darren), Jeremie (Jer Bear), Landon (Nanna), Melissa (Missy), Kinzie (Kotty), Sheridan (Shern), Samantha (Sam-I-Am), Coleden (Manny), 60 great grandkids, and 3 great-greats.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Verlene, his parents, and many siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at the Eagle Rock Stake Center, 2020 South Charlotte Drive in Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends Monday evening June 30th from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, Shelley and Tuesday morning July 1st from 9:30 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
