Dale C. Petty

April 19, 1947 — September 18, 2021

Dale C. Petty passed away Saturday September 18, 2021 at his home in Shelley at the age of 74. He was born in Pocatello, Idaho to Lewis “Roy” Petty and Hilda Coffin Petty on Saturday April 19, 1947.

Dale grew up in a loving home with two brothers, Clyde and Dennis and four
sisters, Arlene, Linda, Faye and LaRae. Dale’s sisters individually claim that they were Dale’s favorite sister, and that argument will continue until they all meet up in heaven. Everyone including Dale, would agree that Dennis was the favorite brother, so he will moderate said argument.

While attending Pocatello High School, Dale met Vickie Lynn Hochstrasser on a blind date. Not long after graduating, Dale married Vickie Lynn and that marriage continued for fifty-five years until he left this earthly plane, and will now continue in spirit for all time and eternity. Dale and Vickie had five children who they raised in Shelley, Idaho; Jamie Kay was their first child and a short eight years later Roy Jay was brought into the world, he followed by Joshua John, Brandon “Beau” and last, but definitely not least, April Utana.

An artist from the beginning, Dale studied architecture at Idaho State University. Architecture was his passion and it became his career. He was so creative and his attention to detail was as impressive as his wit. After retiring from architecture, he continued to make art in many mediums. We are lucky to be surrounded by the beautiful things he created; from drawings and blueprints, to paintings and woodwork, to homes, cabins, building and churches, Dale C. Petty left his mark on this world in more ways than one.

“If you want to see God’s face, make someone laugh.” - Anonymous

When people speak of Dale, laughter is at the top of the list. He could bring out the light and laughter in anyone he met and often did. From a stone face to a giggle, a room would quickly fill up with laughter and love when he was around. His presence is still with us, but his smiling face, his voice, his sense of humor, his laughter, his after-laughter chuckle and his hugs will be greatly missed until it is our turn in line to see him again. We love you “Dale Boy.” We always have and always will.

Dale was welcomed to heaven by: His Mother Hilda and his Dad Roy Petty, his two brothers Clyde and Dennis Petty, his nephews and nieces Danny and Donnie, Robert, Curtis, Michael, Liza and Carrie.

He now watches over his wife, Vickie, their children Jamie Kay (Michael) Angus, Roy Jay (Ikuko) Petty, Joshua John Petty, Beau Petty and April (Ken) Payne. Six Grandchildren Julian, Oliver, Mariah, Elijah, Matthew and Yuri, his sisters Arlene Yearsley, Linda Crandall, Faye Cotant and LaRae Olsen.
