Dan Landon

James Daniel (Dan) Landon passed away on August 18, 2025 at the age of 91 at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello Idaho.

He was born on December 17, 1933 in Hamer, Idaho to Orson Van Buren Landon and Louie Verle Ward Landon into a busy family that had many struggles and many siblings who ended up being lifelong friends.

Dan married Leah Johnson on September 21, 1956 in Coltman, Idaho, and they were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They left Idaho for a few years while Dan was in the US Navy, but returned to Idaho after Dan left the service. They bought their house in Shelley, Idaho and the family was blessed with a son, Gary, and a daughter, Brenda. They took great pride in maintaining a home that was open to any who needed help, a good meal or a hearty laugh.

There are many highlights in Dan’s life. He served honorably in the Korean War, he had a long career as a welder at Idaho Falls Steel, and he served many volunteer hours in civic organizations, such as the Lions’ Club and performed military rites for many years with the American Legion.

He is survived by his children, Gary Landon and Brenda Inns; his grandchildren, Jared Landon, Erica Landon, Danielle Price, Jenna Price, and Spencer Price. He is survived by the great-grandchildren Austin Landon, Charlei Landon, Kendyl Leckington, Jax Leckington, Ethan Herrera, Ava Herrera, David Bolander, Evelyn Bolander, Harvey Price, Alice Price, and Landon Price. He is also survived by one brother, Van Landon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leah, his parents, and his siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Shelley Stake Center, 325 East Locust, Shelley. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak Street, Shelley and Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites.
