Delores Ann Johnson, 86, of Basalt, passed away on July 9, 2026.
Delores was born on June 1, 1940, in Gary, Indiana, to Martin and Catherine Orgon Baranek.
She married the love of her life, Edward Johnson, on August 29, 1959, in East Gary, Indiana. Together they built a loving home and shared 56 wonderful years together.
Delores began her career as an executive secretary for U.S. Steel in Gary, Indiana, where she worked for 20 years. After moving to Shelley, Idaho, she worked for GPOD for several years before joining the staff at A.W. Johnson Elementary as a speech paraprofessional. She truly loved working with children and found great joy in helping them learn and grow.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Delores was affectionately known as "Nana" by those who loved her. She had a creative spirit and enjoyed crafting, painting, and playing Bingo. She found happiness tending her garden and flowers—especially her beloved roses. She also enjoyed walking in the park and spending time with her Yorkshire Terrier, Molly. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family.
Delores is survived by her son, Michael (Kay) Johnson of Firth; her daughters, Pamela (Michael) Mayhew of Gilbert, Arizona, and Susan (Kenny) West of Valparaiso, Indiana; her sister, Linda (Paul) Swigart of Indianapolis, Indiana; six grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Edward Johnson; and her great-granddaughter, Sophia Sky.
Those who knew Delores will always remember her favorite words: "Did I tell you today, I love you? I love you, I love you, I love you."
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Hillcrest Cemetery, 793 E. 1200 N., Shelley, Idaho. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home.
