Denton Charles Hopkins, 63, of Meridian, Idaho, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on May 5, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.
He was born on September 14, 1960, in Blackfoot to Darwin Charles and Carol Dawn Taylor Hopkins.
Above all, Denton cherished his family. Denton grew up in Firth, Idaho as the oldest of seven siblings where he learned the values of hard work, selfless service and good old-fashioned teasing. He married the love of his life, Becky Lou Nulph Hopkins, on April 16, 1982, with whom he recently celebrated 42 years of marriage. He found immense joy in spending time with Becky, his children, and grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love. Denton gained his favorite title four years ago: “Papa.” He and his grandchildren lit up and squealed with delight when they saw each other; he was their most beloved playmate.
Denton had a deep love for music, especially the piano, which he played with skill and joy throughout his life. He shared this passion generously, teaching piano to numerous students over the years, leaving an indelible mark on their musical journeys.
Denton was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a two-year mission in Los-Angeles, California where he loved serving the Spanish-speaking community. Throughout his life, he volunteered in various callings such as Ward organist, Scout leader, Bishopric member, and executive secretary. His most recent callings were Ward Organist and Primary Pianist, the latter of which he always maintained was the best calling in the Church. Denton found solace and strength in the Gospel throughout his life.
Professionally, Denton worked as a mainframe engineer for 39 years at Albertsons, SuperValu, Ensono, and UNFI, where his expertise and dedication were highly respected by his colleagues and customers alike.
Denton was a stalwart figure in his community, known for his kindness, generosity, and faith. To know Denton was to love him! His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
Denton is survived by his father, Darwin; wife, Becky; his children, Stacia, Devin and Danielle, and Jeremy; his grandchildren, Dustin, Daxton, Dathan, and Declan; his siblings, extended family, and countless friends whose lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his baby daughter, Jamie Brooke, and his mother, Carol.
