Donnie Andrew Olson

Donnie Andrew Olson, 93, of Shelley, Idaho passed away on March 21, 2026.

Donnie was born August 11, 1932, in Ucon, Idaho, to A.C. and Ora Olson.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he worked with K-9 units and spent time in Korea and Japan.

He married the love of his life, Ruth Ellen Lundquist, on June 17, 1954. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and hard work, raising three children: Brandon Andrew Olson, Lisa Dawn (Olson) Hurt, and Michael Shane Olson.

Donnie worked as a pipefitter for many years before owning and operating plumbing and heating businesses. He retired in 1999.

He had a lifelong love of horses and the outdoors, participating in riding groups, racing, and parades. He was also a devoted member of his church and served in many roles throughout his life.

Donnie will be remembered for his strength, his dedication to family, his love of the outdoors, and his quiet but steady example of hard work and faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and deep-rooted family values that will continue for generations.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; his daughter, Lisa Hurt and son, Michael Shane Olson; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren .

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Irma (Olson) Edwards and Joyce (Olson) Howe, his brother, Fred Leon Olson, and oldest son, Brandon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the Shelley Third Ward Chapel, 513 S Park Ave. The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery with military rites. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home.
