Elaine Georgeson Hamilton

Elaine Georgeson Hamilton, 85, passed away on March 30, 2026, at Lincoln Court Assisted Living in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Elaine was born on April 25, 1940, in Malad, Idaho. She was the first child and only daughter of Wilbur Norval and Opal Allen Georgeson. She spent her early years in Downey before the family settled in Pocatello. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1958 and continued her education at Idaho State University.

Elaine married Bruce K Smith on July 20, 1961. Together they raised four daughters while living in Pocatello and eventually settled in Bozeman Montana.

Elaine worked as a cashier and biller for Massey Ferguson. She also worked as a secretary for the Institute of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while in Bozeman. After returning to Idaho, she worked as a benefits specialist at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Following a divorce, Elaine married F. Waldo Hamilton in 1992 and lived in Shelley, Idaho. Together they served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Macon, Georgia. They served two missions at the Idaho Falls Family History Center and enjoyed serving as temple workers in the Idaho Falls Temple.

She found joy in sewing, quilting, and playing the piano and organ. She shared these talents with many, through teaching and service.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Wally; her granddaughter, Lysha Marshall; and her great-grandson, Benjamin Joshua West.

Elaine is survived by her daughters: Susan Collins (John), Lynette Rushton (Boyd), Carolyn Marshall (Gregory), and Wendy Hitchcock (Darren); her stepson, Joseph Hamilton (Jackie); Brothers Melvin Georgeson, Wayne Georgeson (RaNae), Keith (Linda); along with 23 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2026 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak Street in Shelley. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. till 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
