Emmanuel Joseph "E J " Jonak

March 26, 1929 — February 21, 2008

Emmanuel Joseph “EJ” Jonak, 78, of Shelley, died February 21, 2008 at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello of natural causes.  

He was born March 26, 1929 in Ashton, Nebraska to Joseph and Cashmere Stanczyk Jonak.  He attended school to the 8th grade at District 69 in Howard County.  

He joined the United States Army in 1951.   He worked as a Farmer, Mechanic, Service Station Attendant and laborer.  

He enjoyed stamp collecting, coin collecting, and cars.  

He was a member of Christ the King Perish in Idaho Falls.  

He is survived by two brothers, Delbert (Renee) Jonak of Ashton, Nebraska, Virgil (Marilyn) Jonak of Shelley, Idaho, and one sister Luana Salerno of Carter Lake, Iowa, a sister-in-law, Adeline Jonak of Ashton, Nebraska, three aunts, Ilene Stanczyk and Blanch Janulewicz both of Grand Island, Nebraska, , and Bernice Gazinski of Cheyenne, Wyoming.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lambert and Reginald.   

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 A.M. Monday February 25, 2008 at Christ the King Catholic Church (Woodruff and 17th Street) in Idaho Falls with a Rosary at 10:00 A.M. The viewing will be at 10:30 until time of service at the Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.  Interment will be in the New Sweden Cemetery with military rites preformed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.  

The family would like to express a special appreciation to the staff of the Idaho Veterans Home in Pocatello for their patience and loving care.  

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Polish Heritage Center Inc., Box 3, Ashton, NE  68817.
