Ernest Lawrence Goff

Ernest (Ernie) L. Goff of Mackay, Idaho passed away peacefully at his home in Firth on April 4, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Willard Lawrence Goff and Helen Paetsch, a sister Sharon Longhurst, and wife Darlene Perkins. Ernest is survived by: brother Gale Goff; sisters Venita Stender, Betty Loftus, and Barbara Moyes; DeLoris Kirkland (former spouse); sons Ben, Thor, Vince, and daughter Sophia Albano.

A farmer/rancher by trade, Ernest seemed to know a little about everything and could fix almost anything. Ernest loved his family, had a good sense of humor, and enjoyed the beauties of nature and wildlife. After retiring he could often be found driving the nearby canyons and visiting Idaho state parks, his favorite being Yellowstone. Always one to discuss the weather, Ernest was hard-working, good-natured, enjoyed identifying crops in the fields, and appreciated the advances in farming equipment compared to the ‘old days’.

Ernest was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed watching the ‘Music and the Spoken Word’ broadcast each Sunday.

A private service will be held in Firth this Summer.
