Evelyn J. Hughes passed away peacefully in her sleep at The Gables of Shelley on Feb. 8, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Evelyn was born July 3, 1924 in Colma, CA. to Ceaser and Olga Massoni. She was the oldest daughter of 15 children. She went to school and remained in Colma until she met the love of her life Walter F. Hughes. Evelyn and Walter were married in 1949 and they lived happily in San Carlos, CA. were they raised their only child Susan.
Evelyn worked as an executive secretary until the birth of her child. Her passions were gardening, musicals, playing cards and dancing the Polka with Walt. She was a generous soul and family was everything to her.
After Walt’s passing in 1985, she remained in San Carlos until she contracted Alzheimer’s and moved to Idaho Falls, ID to be with her daughter Susan, son-in-law Bill Hulse and her grandchildren Zachary and Monica.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband Walt Hughes, parents Ceaser and Olga Massoni, brothers David, Leo and Gino and her sister Lorraine.
Evelyn’s ashes will be scattered in a rose garden at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo, California later this year.
