Guy Ellis Robinson

October 22, 1932 — April 22, 2026

Guy Ellis Robinson, 93, of Basalt, Idaho, passed away April 22, 2026, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

Guy was born on October 22, 1932, in Basalt, ID to Ellis and Edith Robinson. He was the second born of eight children. He loved his brothers - Bud, Cal, Jack, and Jay and his sisters -Dorothy, Karan, and Shirley. The bond with his brothers and sisters was very important to him, and Tuesday “coffee’ night, was a night he looked forward to. On coffee night his siblings and their families would go to his house for coffee, cookies, and a chance to catch up on the previous week’s happenings.

Guy graduated from Shelley High School and was proud to be a Russet. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Air Force and was active for four years. Guy was dedicated to his Country, and any time a flag would be presented, he would salute it – and many times his eyes would fill with tears.

Guy met the love of his life, Sharon Gay Nelson, and they were married on June 12, 1958. To this union came three children – Terrie, Gary, and Kellie. Guy and Sharon loved to go camping and fishing. They had a cabin in Island Park that was their ‘weekend home’, and many times you’d find his brother’s and sister’s camping with them. Later, he learned to love Mackay and spent a lot of time there.

Guy was a master carpenter and spent most of his life owning and operating Robinson Construction. He built many cabins and houses – and he was well known for them. He also worked at Pillsbury and retired from Basic American Foods, as a mechanic.

Guy loved camping, fishing, snowmobiling, gambling, riding his motorcycle, watching FOX News, and teasing everyone in a way only he could, His favorite thing was time with his family: kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. On Father’s Day he knew his house would be overloaded with everyone, and he would be surrounded by love. He looked forward to ‘his’ day, and he welcomed everyone with open arms.

He is survived by his children Terrie Mecham, Gary (Tana) Robinson, Kellie (Jeff) Hill, Brothers Jack (Gaila) Robinson, Jay (Vicki) Robinson, and a sister Shirley Hansen, nine grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Edith Robinson, his wife Sharon, his brothers Bud and Cal, sisters Dorothy and Karan, son-in-law, Rusty Mecham, and 3 great-grandchildren.
