James (Jim) Ray Higley

May 7, 1965 – February 16, 2026

James “Jim” Ray Higley, 60, passed away peacefully at his home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on February 16, 2026.

Jim was born on May 7, 1965, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Emily Street and Ellis Higley. He grew up in Idaho Falls and attended Hawthorne Elementary, O.E. Bell Junior High, and Idaho Falls High School. At just 16 years old, Jim chose to begin working and quickly built a life for himself as a general contractor. He was known as a true “jack of all trades,” with a special talent for tile work and finish carpentry. Many knew him for his craftsmanship, strong work ethic, and the pride he took in building things with his hands, often working alongside his brother Rick.

On May 14, 2011, Jim married the love of his life, Beverly Higley. Their marriage was filled with adventure, laughter, and deep love. Together they enjoyed traveling, visiting national forests, relaxing in hot springs, and creating special memories at places like Niagara Falls. Beverly was his greatest companion and partner in life.

Jim is survived by his brothers Doug Perry and Rick Higley (Anna Groom); his sisters Cynthia Martin and Angie (Junior) Vielma; his daughters Veda LaDawn Nelson and Jamie (Alex) Stultz; his son Nathan Higley; and his beloved grandchildren Alivea Olsen, Owen Miller, Sabasthyn Miller, Abigail Nelson, and Ellyn Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his sister Bonnie Little; his brother Ronnie Higley; his beloved wife Beverly Higley; both of his parents; and his cherished grandson, Xayden Olsen.

Jim will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love for his family, and the adventures he shared with those closest to him. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, craftsmanship, and memories that will be treasured forever.

Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery on Thursday February 26th at 11 AM. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
