Jean Day

Ila Jean Beck Day was born on the 16th of September 1929 in Lorenzo, Idaho. She was the 3rd of eight children born to Otto Frederick Beck Sr. and Elta Hjort Beck.

When Jean was 7 years old her family moved to Shelley, Idaho where she attended school and graduated from Shelley High School. She was married to Jack Monty Day November 20, 1948 and later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They are the parents of three children. Two sons, Rick and Kim. And one daughter, Cindy. Jean and Jack spent their married life and raised their family in Shelley.

Jean was well known as a Beautician in the community for over 45 years of her life.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings, including Relief Society President.

She passed away on the morning of December 20, 2018 at her son Ricks’s home in Shelley. She was proceeded in death by her husband Jack, parents, and siblings Otto Frederick Beck Jr., (Marjorie), Ralph A. Beck, (Dorothy), Florence Beck Curnutt, (Donald), and Gerald Hjort Beck, (Gloria).

Jean is survived by her siblings, Francis, Beverly Johnson and Lynn, her children Rick, Cindy Gellings, Kim Day, six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. The family will meet with friends Thursday morning from 10:00 till 10:45 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
