James (Jim) E. Colgrove, of Shelley Idaho, passed away Friday March 20
2015 after a courageous battle with cancer, fittingly on the first day of spring his favorite season. He died at home surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on December 22, 1945
in Scottsbluff, NE to George William and Pearl (Van Winkle) Colgrove. He was the third of six children and was raised in Minitare, Nebraska. After graduation he attended Scottsbluff Junior College on a Basketball Scholarship, after which he served a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Eastern Atlantic States Mission.
Upon his return he moved to Provo, Utah where he attended Brigham Young University and met the love of his life Vaunda Harker. They were married August 20, 1977 in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. Jim has a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and has served faithfully in whatever capacity to which he was called. In his walk through life he developed a deep, personal relationship with the Savior. He loved people and touched many lives with his genuine care and concern for others.
Jim was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and loved to share this gift with others. He recently retired from Yost Business Systems after 30 years. Jim was a wonderful husband and father, hardworking employee and true friend to all he knew.
Survivors include his wife Vaunda of Shelley, ID. Children: Audra (Aaron) Jensen Shelley, ID ; Chelsea (Justin) Johnson, Ammon, ID; Colby Colgrove, Ashburn, Virginia; Tessa (Page) Wagely, Orem, Utah; Austin Colgrove, Pocatello, ID; and Eli Colgrove, Shelley, ID. Grandsons: Porter Jensen, Kamden, Karson, Oliver and Asher Johnson, Lincoln and Coleman Wagely. Siblings, William (Annette) Colgrove Fort Wayne, Indiana and Marje Holliday Scottsbluff,Nebraska, well as in laws Katie Colgrove, Dena Colgrove, Caraleen (Herbert) Andrews, Bernice Wing, Alice Anne (Wayne) Christensen, Karen (Robert) Beck, Ferrin (Wanda) Harker, Thelma (Ronald) Womack, Ruth Marie (Terry) Reid, Emily (Ahmad) Paksima, Martha (Craig) Malcom, Mark (Suzanne) Harker and Merritt (Cyndy) Harker.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his mother and father in law Leslie and Lettie Harker, brothers, Larry, Gene, and Richard Colgrove and bother in law Marlin Wing.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Taylor Ward Chapel, 1101 E 1250 N. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak Street, in Shelley and Saturday morning from 10:30 till 11:40 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
