Kathy Stears

Kathryn Rose Browning Stears, 78, of Shelley passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at the Gables of Ammon.


Kathy was born on August 31, 1945 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Bert and Nellie Perry Browning.  She was the youngest of five children. Kathy lived in the Shelley area from the time she was five years old.  She attended school in Shelley and graduated in 1963.


She married Shane Stears on March 29, 1963 and was later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 29, 1983.  Shane and Kathy welcomed four children: Suzie, Mike, Kris, and Jamie. She has eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.


Kathy loved music. She enjoyed singing and playing the clarinet, piano, and organ.  She worked in the insurance industry for many years.  Kathy made many memories camping, hunting, and especially fishing on the Salmon River.


Kathy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.


She is survived by her children: Suzie Stears, Mike (Peggy) Stears, Kris Stears, and Jamie (Cash) Duffin, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.


Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Shane, sisters, Marjorie Park and Delores Stevens.


The family wishes to thank the Gables of Ammon and Brio Home Health and Hospice for the loving care they gave Kathy.


Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Taylor Cemetery under the direction of  Nalder Funeral Home.
