Kenneth Lyle Mullen

October 12, 1917 — January 14, 2006

Kenneth Lyle Mullen, 88, of Goshen died January 14, 2006 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls of natural causes.

He was born October 12, 1917 in Esbon, Kansas to Lester Lee and Eva Myrtle Baldwin Mullen. He moved to South Dakota in May of 1919. He attended school in Yankton & Clay County Schools and Graduated from Wakonda High School in South Dakota in May of 1935. He moved to Idaho July of 1936 and farmed with his Aunt & Uncle he also hauled coal from Wyoming to Idaho Falls in the winters.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in September 1940 during WWII. He was honorably discharged June 1945 with the rank Tech 3. He was proud to be a veteran and attended Army reunions across the U.S..

He married Marjorie Jean Pickett on September 21, 1941 in Idaho Falls. They were married 61 years before her death in 2003. In 1946 He started farming in the Goshen area, he farmed until 1980. He also worked for the Atomic Energy Commission’s National Reactor Testing Station as a Security Patrolman. He used his carpentry skills during his retirement to build many house additions and garages in the Shelley, Firth area. They bought a small RV and spent many winters in Overton, Nevada. He enjoyed Traveling to his grandchildren’s athletic events, high school & college graduations, birthdays and marriages. He loved playing Bridge & Pinochle.

He is survived by three sons David (Mary) Mullen of Roy, Utah; Carlan (Joyce) Mullan of Idaho Falls; Dann (Jeanine) Mullan of Meridian; a sister Maxine (Alma) Robinson of Twin Falls; 10 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, wife, 1 grandson and 1 granddaughter

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday January 21st at the United Methodist Church (190 South Holmes Ave.) in Shelley with Pastor Michael Kennedy, officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday 11:30 A.M. till 12:40 P.M. at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley. Interment will be in the Fielding Memorial Cemetery with Military Rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
