Linda Ruth Hampton

May 30, 1944 — February 24, 2026

Linda Ruth Hampton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was born on May 30, 1944 in Bellflower, California to Dean and Alta Croft. At the age of five, her family returned to Idaho Falls and she attended Idaho Falls High School, where she built lifelong friendships and deep roots.

Linda later met the love of her life and partner in every adventure and crime, Steve Hampton. Steve spoiled her endlessly, and their devotion to one another was evident to all who knew them. They were married on March 1, 1963, in Idaho Falls, beginning a beautiful journey together. They settled in Shelley, the community she would live in and cherish for the rest of her life.

A talented and licensed hairdresser, Linda owned and operated a beauty shop from their home. This allowed her the joy of raising her two boys, Brett and Tyler, while also welcoming clients who soon became friends. Linda’s warmth, humor, and caring nature were woven into every conversation held in her chair.

Linda and Steve shared countless adventures throughout their life together, camping in the mountains, fishing their favorite spots, riding horses, and bowling for many years in leagues at Bowl-Ero in Idaho Falls. Their Saturday nights were often filled with card games alongside close friends and neighbors, moments full of laughter and camaraderie.

In 1998, Linda and Steve built another dream together when they opened L & S Metal Products, their own steel fabrication business. Linda faithfully served as the receptionist and bookkeeper until their retirement.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Alta; her loving husband, Steve; and her two cherished sons, Brett and Tyler Hampton.

She is survived by her brothers, Larry (JoAnn) Croft and Daniel (Jo) Croft; daughters-in-law, Kamala Hampton and Laura Hampton; five grandchildren, Jackson (Destiny) Hampton, BaiLee (Orrin) Christensen, Chloe (Christopher) Jones, Rainey Hampton, Stephanie Rowbury (Aaron Balster); and twelve great-grandchildren, Kimber Hampton, CJ Rowbury, Anya Hampton, Ella Maxwell, Jessie Hampton, Ty Christensen, Wyatt Hampton, Brent Christensen, HaizLee Christensen, Melody Christensen, Parker Maxwell and Phillip Christensen.

Though she endured profound loss, she remained strong, gracious, and deeply loved by those around her.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Oakstone Hospice and her devoted nurse, Brittney Cherry, whose compassion and gentle care brought comfort during Linda’s final days.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Linda’s beautiful life.
