Lois Colleen Gotch

Lois Colleen Schultz Fielding Gotch, 77, of Shelley, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at her home from natural causes.  

Lois was born on June 3, 1930 in Long Beach, California to Marie Rasmine Peterson and (Jack) John Henry Frederick Gottleib Schultz.  She was the fifth of six children, two half brothers and one half sister, and two brothers. The family moved to St. Anthony when she was small and split time there and in Squirrel, Idaho on the dry farm. Lois’ mother Marie passed away when Lois was six years old, and her father Jack, when she was twelve. She and her younger brothers went to live with their older half brother Gayle Smith and his family. She lived there until high school age when she was invited to live with Roy and Nina Fielding in Shelley. She attended Shelley High School and graduated there. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  

Lois met Delray Fielding there and waited for him while he served a mission in Argentina. They were sealed July 16, 1953 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They settled in Shelley where they farmed with Delray’s parents, Les and Nora Fielding. They had six children.  Delray died in 1994.  

On October 25, 2002 she married longtime family friend Neldon Gotch in Shelley. Neldon has lovingly cared for her and they worked side by side in the greenhouses every year since. Lois loved quilting and she and Neldon made many quilts for presents for family members.  When she died they had just finished thirteen quilts to give to the children in both families. If asked Lois’ favorite time spent was with family and friends.  She was especially loved by her grandchildren and was such a positive influence in their lives.  She wanted them all to be the best they can be.  

Lois is survived by her husband Neldon, children Eric (Kathy) Fielding of Shelley, Terri ( Frank) Rash of Pocatello, Vicky ( Mike) Lords of Shelley, Kevin ( Janae) Fielding of Shelley, and Scott (Shawna) Fielding of Shelley. One brother, Floyd (Carol) Schultz of Gulf Port, Miss., and 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by eight step children, 40 step grandchildren and 33 step great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Delray, her parents, sister Nyla, and brothers Gayle, Stubb, and Jack, and 1 daughter Lynette.  

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday December 15, 2007 at the Shelley South Stake Center (675 South Milton) with Bishop Shawn Leckington conducting.  The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Saturday morning 9:30 till 10:40 A.M. at the Church.  Interment will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
