Loma Christine Hunter

July 20, 1939 — February 17, 2026

Our beautiful Mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Loma “Christine” Albertson Hunter, returned to her Heavenly Home on February 17, 2026. She was surrounded by loved ones at her passing and will be missed for the love and devotion she demonstrated to her family her entire life. She passed away at the age of 86 in St. George, Utah.

Mom was the first born child of Merrill Tonar Albertson and Marjorie Balmforth Albertson on July, 20th 1939 in Idaho Falls, ID. She was the oldest of 9 children and was followed in birth by Gary, Billy, Richard, Joe, Annie, Kathie, Gwen, and Mike. As the oldest child, Mom developed her nurturing skills as she took care of her siblings. She grew up in Roberts, ID on a farm growing sugar beats. She started developing her green thumb hoeing sugar beats and learned how to milk cows on that farm. When she would arrive home from school there would be a list of things to help with both inside and outside the house. She learned to work hard from a very young age.

She met Ralph Franklin Hunter when she was 16 years old at the service station in Roberts where he was working. They got to know each other well since she drove an old car that needed fixing often, and soon set a wedding date for June 22, 1956. After they were married they moved to Dubois, Idaho where Dad worked construction and started logging. Mom completed her senior year of high school at Dubois High and graduated in 1957. On September 18th, 1957 Mom and Dad welcomed their first child, Debra into their life. Over the next few years Jeff and Kevin joined the family.

In 1962, Dad and Mom purchased land in Shelley, ID and moved there to start a timber yard. Troy, Dusty and Ryan joined the family in Shelley. Mom and Dad worked together logging, building potato cellars and raising six children. As the children grew up, they also helped in the family business and all learned to work hard. In between raising children and working in the timber yard Mom enjoyed painting ceramics, growing a garden, creating a lovely yard with beautiful flowers, and making crafts in Relief Society. She was an excellent cook and everyone enjoyed her homemade meals. She loved decorating her home and created beautiful surroundings where everyone felt welcomed and peaceful.

Mom was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She and Dad took their family to the temple in 1965 to be sealed for all time and eternity.

Mom served in the church and had many callings, but her favorite was as a primary chorister. She loved little children and it showed in the way she cared for them and always listened to them. Another calling she loved was doing extraction work for family history.

Family was always important to Mom and she created a home where people wanted to be a part of it. Holidays were a time for gathering and she was very conscientious to include everyone. Mom and Dad were married for 69 years, and after a short separation are back together again.

Mom is survived by her children, Debra, Jeffry (Jennifer), Troy (Jennifer), Dustin (Pam) and Ryan (Kristi) and daughter-in-law Jeanette. She has 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren with one more on the way, and 2 great-great grandchildren, sisters Annie, Kathy and Gwen, and brother Mike. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Ralph, one son, Kevin, and her brothers Gary, Billy, Richard, and Joe.

We want to thank Dr. Brad Erickson, the nurses from Brio, and caregivers from The Gables in Idaho. Additionally, we thank the nurses from Enhabit and the staff at Legacy Village in St. George, Utah. She had wonderful, kind people taking care of her in the last few months of her life and the family appreciates their devotion to their profession and our Mom.
