Lonnie Lloyd Lewis

March 6, 1940 — January 11, 2018

Lonnie Lloyd Lewis, 77, passed away on January 11, 2018 in Blackfoot, Idaho.

Lonnie was born March 6, 1940 in American Falls, ID to Hubert Lloyd Lewis and Violace Rose Pease. He grew up in Aberdeen, Rockland, and American Falls. He always had a love for sports, fishing, hunting, road trips and the outdoors. Even as a child he was known to sneak off fishing.

His favorite team was Gonzaga Bulldogs, so many times that we would have to print out his schedules and have the channels ready to go for him. One of his favorite places to go was daddy daycare to visit with all of his friends and have a cold one.

He is the oldest of four children. In 1942 Lonnie became a big brother to Joe B. and Judy Beth. In 1944 his baby brother “Skip” Steven Gene came along. Lonnie was married to Pat Gish in 1959. Of that marriage he had three kids Brett, Lori and Tom, later divorced in 1967. He married Peggy Hall in 1969 of that marriage he had his youngest child Judy.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army. He was a Post Commander and member of the American Legion Rockland Post. Lonnie was the ultimate jack of all trades and had dabbled in many lines of work. To Lonnie a stranger was a friend that he just hadn’t had the chance to meet yet.

Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Joe B. Lewis and Steven Gene (Skip) Lewis, along with two grandchildren Stephan Lavee Thorpe, and Ryan Green. Lonnie is survived by his children Brett (Brenda) Green, Lori (Mike) Bird, Tom (Shannon) Green, and Judy (Joe) Hewlett, his sister Judy (George) Davis, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family of Lonnie wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Loy and Juliene from Access Home Health and Hospice, Elisa from Quality Care, and the staff of The Willows memory care unit. Thank you all for the great care and memories that you gave him during his final weeks. Family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley, Idaho.
