Lucinda Mickelsen Shipley passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 7, 2025, from cardiac arrest following what she described as, "The best birthday ever!"
She was 70 years old. She was born September 6, 1955, to Clifford Dean Mickelsen and Joyce Ricks in the Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Idaho. She grew up in Shelley, Idaho, attended school in Shelley, and graduated from Shelley High in 1973.
She was the oldest of four children. Siblings include Rudy Dean Mickelsen (deceased), Joy Lyne Mickelsen (Blackfoot), and Chris (Celeste) Mickelsen (Meridian).
Upon graduation from Shelley High, she attended Ricks College, majoring in Secretarial Science while paying for school by working at the college in the Electronics media program. After graduation, she continued working there, and subsequently met her future husband, Gerald Lynn Shipley, while in that job.
They were married on May 7, 1976, in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and all eternity. They were married for 49 years, 4 months.
The marriage was blessed with 5 children: Robert Gerald Shipley, Michael Lynn (Monica) Shipley, Julianne (Jordi) Andrews, John Mark Shipley, and Maren (Rafael) Aguilar, and 15 grandchildren.

Over the years, they have lived in Mt. View (3 years), California, Provo (13 years), Utah, Albuquerque (6 years), New Mexico, Hillsboro (23 years), Oregon, and Las Vegas (4 years), Nevada. Lucy loved each place she lived and tried to see as much of the state as possible.
Over the years, church service included Primary Teacher, Nursery Leader, Primary President, Relief Society Counsellor, Relief Society President, Relief Society Secretary, Stake Young Women's President. She also served as a volunteer in many roles, including coordination of a monthly donated food distribution to anyone who needed it.
While living in Albuquerque, she started working as a volunteer in the Stake Family History Center and began her lifelong love of family history. Over her life, she performed temple work for many deceased relatives.
In Albuquerque, she also volunteered with the "Art in the School" program which introduced students to various aspects of the arts in creative ways. She continued this in Hillsboro, expanding to managing the High School's Fine Arts Week for over 10 years.
Professionally, she worked for 17 years as Special Education Secretary and Classroom Aid at Glencoe High School in Hillsboro, Oregon. She was a positive influence on both students and staff alike, and it was common to have Glencoe alumni and staff approach her on town and tell her how much they loved her.
She was an enthusiastic member of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and loved learning about her pioneer heritage.
Passionate interests include art, travel, camping, riding vintage trains, pranks, movies, dance, photography, compassionate service, temple service, and family activities. In the summer of 2025, she hosted a cousin’s reunion in St. Anthony for all of the cousins on her father's side. It was a major success. Following that, she hosted a reunion for her children in West Yellowstone.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Rudy.
She is survived by her husband, her five children, and her 15 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak Street, Shelley. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. the funeral home. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
