Lynnette Russell, 77, of Shelley, Idaho, passed away on April 10, 2026, surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 28, 1948, in Mount Pleasant, Utah, to Ray and Irma Simons (who were later divorced). She was the fifth of eight children and attended school in the Shelley–Firth area of Idaho.
On November 18, 1966, Lynnette married the love of her life, Robert Russell. Together they had one son, Tommy, and built a life in the Shelley–Firth area. Lynnette and Robert worked, lived, and played side by side for nearly 60 years.
Lynnette was a woman of many talents. She could sew, cook, crochet, paint, arrange flowers, drive tractors, and even work as a mechanic—just to name a few. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, quilting, and spending time with Robert, her family, and friends.
Throughout her life, Lynnette worked a variety of jobs, including at Croft Spud House in Firth, GPOD in Shelley, Circle K in Shelley, and many others.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Russell of Shelley; her granddaughters, Erika (Daniel) Adams, Amanda (Matt) Dikih, Heidi (Sean) Russell, and Sarah (Bryan) Baker, all of Oregon; one great-grandson, Theo, also of Oregon; her sister, Elayne (Tom) Hasibar of Shelley; her sister-in-law, Shirley (Joe) Simpson; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Simons; her stepmother, Lois Simons; her mother, Irma Whitmill; her stepfather, Don Whitmill; her brothers, Elray and Kenny Simons; her sisters, Barbara Bowcutt, Alice Harding, Pat Palmer, and Donna Lou Simons; her brothers-in-law, Gordon Bowcutt, Lee Harding, and Jim Palmer; her sisters-in-law, Cheryl Simons, Janice Hurt, and Janet Russell; and her parents-in-law, Roy and Geneva Russell.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 513 South Park Avenue in Shelley, with a luncheon to follow.
