Mardella (Della) Dorothy Entzel Stewart
Della Stewart passed away January 22, 2024 in Shelley Idaho at the age of 85.
Della was born January 27, 1938 in Killdeer North Dakota to Christian Phillip Entzel and Ida Singer. She was the fifth of six children. She lived in Killdeer until she was about 10 years old when they moved to Billings Montana. She finished school in Montana.
She married her sweetheart Jack Stewart on June 6, 1956 in Butte, Montana. They were sealed together in the Manti Temple on August 11th, 1965. They had 67 wonderful years together.
Jack was in the Military (Marines), so they lived in a lot of places in California, Hawaii, Virginia, Montana, and Idaho. In June of 1971, they retired to a 10 acre farm in Basalt Idaho where they finished raising their 3 children along with a lot of chickens, turkeys, cows and horses.
Della was a hard worker all her life. She loved to camp, fish and ride motorcycles with Jack. She was a great cook and loved to process canned food and made the best homemade bread and jams. She loved all flowers especially daisies, hollyhocks, and sunflowers, and enjoyed working in her garden. She would listen to country music for hours and liked to watch rodeos on TV. She loved going to the Eastern Idaho Fair each year and would look forward to the yummy food there. She especially liked colleting anything with red cardinals (her favorite bird) on it and adding to her huge salt & pepper shaker collection.
Later in life she enjoyed working on puzzles and coloring. In the Spring of 2001, she adopted a ginger-colored toy poodle named “Crissy”, that became her constant loyal companion.
Della was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in many callings including Relief Society President, Primary President, Young Women, and being a visiting teacher. She had a strong testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ.
Della was preceded in death by her parents, 4 siblings and one granddaughter.
She is survived by one sister, her husband, two daughters: Connie (Matthew) Pfannschmidt, Janice (Drue) Kofoed, and one son: Ken (Cheryl) Stewart; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; and little Crissy.
The family would like to express their thanks to Gables Assisted Living and Aspen Home Health and Hospice for their care of our dear mother and grandmother.
