Mavis Kay Weikel Moore, 78, of Shelley, passed away on January 17, 2024 at Life Care Center in Idaho Falls.
Mavis was born December 20, 1945 in Columbus, Montana to Arthur Weikel and Elsie Stokker Weikel. She had three siblings, Jack, Hazel and Helen. She went to school in Absarokee, Montana for 12 years graduating in 1964. She attended college in Powell, Wyoming and Chadron, Nebraska. There she met her first husband, Bennie Francis. They married and had their first child, Renate. They had two more children Bennie and Shawn, before divorcing. In 1974 she met her final and permanent husband, Paul Moore. With him they had their last and youngest child, Autumn.
Mavis worked in the hospital as a nurse for a short period of time then later became a bus driver for the Shelley School District. In her free time Mavis loved crafting, sewing and gardening. She and Paul were very devoted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mavis is survived by her children, Renate Francis, Bennie Moore, Shawn Moore and Autumn Moore, her grandkids, Denzel Moore, Lyrik Francis, Jasmine and Kordell Moore, Eriq and Dakota Nielson, Rihanna Francis and Lillian Prouse, as well as her great grandson Dominik Isaac.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Shelley Eighth Ward Chapel, 184 North Park Ave. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 P.M at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, in Shelley and Friday morning from 11:30 till 12:45 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
