Norman D. Kelley, beloved father, grandfather, passed away at the age of 91 on May 7, 2026. He was born on August 13, 1934, in Shelley, Idaho, to Floyd G. Kelley and Fern Dial Kelley.
Norman was raised in a close‑knit family and was one of several siblings, many of whom preceded him in death: Marilyn Fielding, Gerald Kelley, Neil Kelley, Marcel Peterson, and Kendall Kelley. He is survived by his brother Karl Kelley.
Norman married LaVerda Harris on September 12, 1958, in the Logan Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints. Together they raised three sons: Kyle Kelley, Kent Kelley, and Todd Kelley.
Following LaVerda’s passing, Norman later married Leola Maria Christensen on October 25, 1997, in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple. Leola also preceded him in death. Through this marriage, Norman gained and loved step‑children: Jill Davis, Stan Millard, Bart Millard, Mark Millard, and Coy Worthen.
Norman was richly blessed with a large and growing posterity. He is survived by 37 grandchildren, 86 great‑grandchildren, and 3 great‑great‑grandchildren. Remarkably, even in his later years, Norman could remember and recite the names of all his grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, and great‑great‑grandchildren—a reflection of the deep and personal love he held for each one.
For much of his working life, Norman farmed alongside his brothers Neil and Karl, embodying the virtues of hard work, perseverance, and stewardship of the land. Farming was more than an occupation—it was a way of life that shaped his character and strengthened family bonds.
Norman was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints throughout his life. He served as a counselor in a bishopric and later, with his wife Leola, fulfilled two full‑time missions, one in Perth, Australia, and another at Temple Square in Salt Lake City. His testimony of Jesus Christ and belief in the eternal nature of families guided his life and service.
Those who knew Norman often remarked that he was a truly kind and selfless man. He consistently placed the needs of others ahead of his own and served quietly, without expectation of recognition. His gentle spirit, humility, and sincere concern for others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Norman enjoyed watching sports, especially football, traveling, and spending time with family. He found his greatest joy in visiting loved ones and staying closely connected across several generations.
Norman’s life stands as a testimony of faith, devotion, and love. His family finds comfort in the gospel of Jesus Christ and the promise of resurrection and eternal reunion.
