Pamela Call Johnson

June 5, 1947 — February 2, 2022

On February 2, 2022, Pamela Call Johnson completed her mortal course work and advanced to graduate level studies beyond the veil. After struggling with several illnesses, she finally succumbed to complications associated with Leukemia.

Pamela was born June 5, 1947, to Spencer Papworth Call and Marie Pead in Afton, Wyoming. She left there in 1965 when she went to Ricks Junior College in Rexburg, Idaho (now BYU-I) and then BYU in Provo, Utah where she graduated in 1974 with a degree in Secondary Education. After marriage, she graduated from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho with a Masters Degree in Human Resources Training and Development.

She also served a mission in the Gulf States which included Louisiana, Tennessee, and Mississippi before she married Terry D. Johnson March 21, 1974, in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple. She had many positions in the LDS Church and served 5 part-time Stake, Ward, or Branch Missions in Utah, Idaho, and South Dakota. In South Dakota, she was able to teach the gospel in Spanish which she especially enjoyed.

She has worked as a full-time administrative secretary, a part-time real estate secretary, realtor, lunchroom aid in the Shelley School District, and trainer at Curves for Women. She taught briefly at BYU-I and as a high school Spanish teacher in South Dakota.

She enjoyed writing poetry and has written eight historical biographies from her own research, including a five-volume history of Mormon settler Joseph Holbrook, other family history fiction stories, and some creative writing.

She was an avid genealogist, submitting names of over 1,000 persons for LDS temple ordinance work along with digital indexing of more than 250,000 names.

She felt her most important role was her family. She is survived by her husband Terry Johnson of Shelley, Idaho; daughter-in-law Amber Johnson, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter, Cathern Call Lind and husband Tyler Lind of Shelley, Idaho; grandchildren, Rebekah Lind, Zedek Bruce Lind, Vaughn Terry Lind, Anson Call Johnson, Rachael Lind, and Annabelle Lind; brothers, Eugene Spencer Call and Ravell Ray Call of Salt Lake City, Utah with their wives and children; sisters, Jan Marie Veigel and Connie Lancaster of Afton, Wyoming with their husbands and children.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Jared Spencer Johnson and John Anson Johnson, brother, Thomas John Call, father, Spencer Papworth Call, and mother, Marie Call.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak Street, Shelley, Idaho. Interment will be at the Goshen Cemetery.
