Roy E. Moxley

May 7, 1957 — December 10, 2020

On December 10, 2020 Roy Eugene Moxley passed away at the age of 63, surrounded by loving family. Roy was born May 7th, 1957 in Poughkeepsie, New York, the son of Arthur and Ann Moxley. The family moved to Longmont, CO, where Roy met the love of his life, Beth Legere. The two were married on December 30, 1978, and enjoyed almost 42 years of marriage. Together they have 4 children and 12 grandchildren.

He earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado in 1979. Engineering took him all over the United States and world, as he relocated, and traveled. While working for GE, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, and Siemens, he and Beth lived in Colorado, New York, Iowa, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, California, Wisconsin, Washington, and Idaho. After 39 years in his field, Roy retired in 2018 in order to spend more time with Beth and his many grandchildren. Service was central to Roy’s identity. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as Bishop, High Councilman, High Priest Group Leader, Home Teacher, Young Men’s President, Sunday School and Seminary Teacher, and Family History Consultant. Serving as Assistant Nursery Leader was always his favorite calling however. Perhaps this is because his duties consisted of snack coordination, and soothing crying babies, two of his greatest skills. Youth activities brought out the best in Roy.

Roy’s service was supported by his sure testimony of a loving Father in heaven.

As a firm believer that all of life is an adventure, he could often be found golfing or hiking with his grandchildren, whom he adored and entertained with his fantastic stories. Each story was lovingly tailored to the listener, and will always be treasured.

When he couldn’t be found, he and Beth were traveling the world. Through his many travels he gained a deep appreciation for the beauty of our world, and the people in it.

Roy is survived by his wife Beth Moxley, his children, Chris (Marla) Moxley, Rachael (Adam) Daniels, Jessica (Douglas) Rahden, and Sarah (Kelvin) Reynolds, and his grandchildren, Kaden and Wesley Moxley, Ella, Aaron, Ashton, Livia, Preston, Eliza, and Cameron Daniels, and Alexander and Anna Rahden.

He is also survived by his mother Ann Moxley, and siblings Mark (Cheryl) Moxley, Claire Squires, Karl (Carol) Moxley, and Fern (Tracy) Burger, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his father Arthur Moxley, and his grandson Zachary Rahden.

Roy’s family would like to express their deep gratitude for the tender care given by the nurses and doctors of EIRMC and Bingham Memorial Hospitals. Their tireless efforts on behalf of Roy and his family will be remembered as a merciful blessing during this trying time.

Due to Covid-19 a private funeral for immediate family only will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 11:00am. Family and friends can watch the service on a live broadcast at the following link.
