Vaun LeRoy Larsen, 90, passed away June 19, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born February 6, 1932 in Teton, Idaho to Charles and Elsie Larsen. He is the youngest of ten children. He and his twin sister were born at home. Early years were spent in Hibbard and Salem where his dad farmed. In 1942 the family bought a farm on Hitt road, near Ucon. Vaun farmed with his dad, Charley and brother Jess.
He married Lucretia Hokanson on June 27, 1952 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Four children were born while living on the farm and have wonderful memories of their dad singing and yodeling while he milked the cows.
He worked the family farm for a time and then they moved to Iona where they have lived for 60 years. Then Vaun went to school for auto mechanics at Idaho State University. A little brother and sister were added to the family in the Iona years. He worked for Smith Chevrolet and Steves Repair before going into business for himself in 1982, opening Larsen Repair in Iona.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in many callings. He and Lucretia served a mission on the Navajo Reservation. They served in the Idaho Falls Temple as ordinance workers for 10 years. They enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with family. Vaun had a beautiful tenor voice and enjoyed singing, playing guitar and the harmonica.
They have 31 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a son, Greg, three grandsons, his parents, and all siblings except his twin sister.
He is survived by his wife Lucretia, Children Vaunda (Ray) Broadhead, Cindy (Bill) Morgan, Karla (Richard) Woodhouse, Laurie (Scott) Jensen, Curtis (Bobbie) Larsen. And his twin sister Verna Humphries.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Iona 10th Ward Chapel, 5169 Denning Ave. in Iona. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 a.m. till 10:40 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Iona Cemetery at 4962 E First street, under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home.
