Wayne Leroy Nield

July 27, 1929 — January 12, 2007

Wayne Leroy Nield, 77, passed away quietly Friday January 12, 2007 at his home in Shelley.

He was born July 27, 1929 to Frank Leroy and Selma June Charlesworth Nield in Anaconda, Montana.  They later moved to the Idaho Falls area were he attended school.  He lost his beloved mother when he was 8 years old.  His father remarried Myrtle Covert and he gained a brother and sister.  Frank and Myrtle later had two daughters. 

Wayne graduated from Firth High School in 1948 and the following year he enlisted in the Navy.  He was proud of his time in the service and being able to visit every state except Alaska and Hawaii.  He was honorably discharged from the Navy.

He married Lavada Lindsey.  They had three children together, Kit, Kent and Laree.  They were later divorced.  He worked as a mechanic in Pocatello and was also a police officer in Blackfoot.  He married Sandra Duckworth on August 22, 1960.  They had one daughter, Launa Jane.  He worked for the boilermakers until his retirement in 1992.  After his retirement he enjoyed his garden, yard work, playing cards and watching his westerns.  He lost his beloved Sandra in 1999.

He is survived by his sons, Norman Kit (Sandy) Nield of Layton, UT and Allen Kent (Marge) Nield of Green River, WY, two daughters, June LaRee (Richard) Zweigart of Pocatello and Launa Jane Norris of Shelley, four sisters, Beth (Boyd) Johnson of Firth, Daeline (Gene) Pfaff of Forth Hall, Donna Williams of Idaho Falls, and Dixie (Eddy) Moraine of Blackfoot, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sandra and two brothers.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday January 16, 2007 at the Taylor Ward Chapel (1101 East 1250 North) with Bishop Ken Fielding conducting.  The family will receive friends Tuesday morning 9:30 till 10:40 at the church.  Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery with Military Rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.  Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley.
